The bread is a staple food consists mainly of wheat flour, water, yeast and salt. It has several qualities that are good for health: high in carbohydrates, proteins, fiber, B vitamins and very low fat.
Nowadays there are many varieties, each with its own nutritional characteristics. Even people with celiac disease or intolerant to gluten, a protein contained in wheat grain and other cereals, can replace the classic bread with corn.
What are the ingredients of the bread?
– Flour: flour is obtained by grinding the grain of cereals and is the most important ingredient in bread, as well as responsible for its structure. In addition to regular wheat flour, it can also be made with different grains, such as corn, barley or rye.
– Water: the dough is worked with water. In addition to water, other liquids can be included to achieve different flavors, such as milk, fruit juice or even beer.
– Yeast: it is another fundamental ingredient as it is used to ferment the dough and prepare a lighter bread. In addition to fermentation, the yeast gives the bread the classic spongy consistency. There are also types of bread, such as unleavened bread, without yeast.
In addition to these ingredients, you can add others that improve the fermentation process, such as sugar, or to improve the flavor and create spicy breads. Fat, sunflower seeds, nuts or eggs can be added.

It is certainly the type best known by all and the most consumed. It can be in the shape of a loaf, rustic or artisan bread, and other shapes. It is healthy and very nutritious as it is prepared with wheat flour which makes it suitable for the whole population. Helps to regain strength and calm hunger. It is ideal for athletes, especially if it is artisanal and not precooked.
It is made with wholemeal flours that provide the body with many more vitamins, minerals and fiber than other types of bread, such as white bread. This is because the flour is made from whole grains.
In particular, it contains B vitamins, which are beneficial to the nervous system. And minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium, which are also important for the nervous system.
With this type of bread you can prevent cancer, improve constipation problems and lower cholesterol. Fiber, in fact, helps to reduce cholesterol levels in the blood. It is also recommended for people with diabetes, as it maintains blood sugar levels, while it is not recommended for those suffering from intestinal tract disorders.
It should not be confused with wholemeal bread. It is made with refined flour to which bits of bran are added, so it is still white bread. It has a higher fiber intake but the same amount of nutrients.
It is especially beneficial to those suffering from constipation and to those who do not like the taste of wholemeal bread.
It is made with the same ingredients as other types of bread, but without yeast . Because of this, the dough is much firmer and requires slower digestion, providing the body with high levels of satiety. It is especially recommended for those on a diet. Some examples are chapati, corn tortillas or pita, which have a heavier digestion.
Especially suitable for people suffering from hypertension, who can continue to eat bread without eliminating it from the diet.
Finally, there are different types of bread in addition to those described here, such as rye, corn, spelled, sliced, toasted or with nuts. They are all different and provide different benefits to our body. You just have to try them.
