Chestnuts are the fruit of the chestnut tree and bring various benefits to the body. Cooked fruit is very nutritious and easy to digest, as well as providing enough fiber and energy for the whole day.

Cooked fruit greatly helps irritated stomachs, but also those with intestinal disorders such as diarrhea. In this article we will share with you some recipes with chestnuts , with which you can make a first course, a second course and a dessert.

Chestnut and mushroom soup


  • 1 liter of chicken broth
  • 250 grams of peeled chestnuts
  • 30 grams of mushrooms
  • Liquid cream
  • 3 slices of raw ham
  • Salt and pepper

  1. Let’s start by washing the mushrooms by placing them in a colander under cold water. We clean them well and let them rest in warm water for 20-30 minutes. Next, we cut both the mushrooms and the ham into small pieces.
  2. Pour the chicken broth into a saucepan, add the chestnuts and cook over medium heat until soft. Then remove from the heat and set aside some chestnuts. We pass the rest together with the cooking broth in the blender until the desired consistency is obtained.
  3. Add salt and pepper and the mushrooms and cook a little more. Add a little liquid cream and the ham, mix, remove and serve the dish adding the previously preserved chestnuts. We can use chives to decorate: it will give the dish an irresistible presentation!

This mushroom and chestnut soup is one of the recipes that we can use as a first course during a meal: it is something original with which we can vary the diet from day to day.

Turkey with wine and chestnuts: a Christmas recipe with chestnuts


  • 1 kilogram of turkey legs
  • Half a liter of white wine
  • 1 onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • Chestnuts
  • Herbs
  • Butter
  • Flour
  • Olive oil
  • pepper
  • salt


  1. We start by peeling the chestnuts and preparing the onions with garlic, to be peeled and cut very thin.
  2. In a saucepan we put a liter of water and the wine. We add the aromatic herbs and if we prefer and a little cinnamon, and then put it on the fire.
  3. Meanwhile, in a pan with olive oil, brown the turkey legs, previously seasoned to taste. When they are golden, we put them in the pot with the water and wine, but we keep a glass of broth for later.
  4. In another pan with two tablespoons of butter, fry the onion and garlic. Add three tablespoons of flour and chestnuts, sauté for a few minutes and then add the glass of broth we had set aside.
  5. We mix well to avoid lumps and also add one or two other pots of the liquid from the pot where the turkey is. We continue cooking for a few minutes and finally pour this mixture into the pot with the turkey. Mix everything well and leave on the heat until the turkey is tender.

Before serving, let the turkey rest for about 10 minutes: in this way it will taste all the ingredients. This chestnut recipe is perfect for Christmas!

Chestnut pudding


  • Half a kilogram of chestnuts
  • 750 milliliters of whole milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 60 grams of butter
  • 80 grams of sugar
  • Vanilla essence


  1. First, cook the chestnuts for about 10 minutes to be able to peel them well, then drain, peel and chop. We put them in a saucepan with the milk, butter, sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla essence. Cook for at least an hour over very low heat and stir occasionally.
  2. We pass everything in the blender until obtaining a fine cream. Then add the egg yolks and mix well, until a homogeneous paste is formed, add the egg whites and continue to beat so that it does not lose softness.
  3. Pour the mixture into a baking dish greased with a little butter. Let it cook in a bain-marie for an hour at 180 degrees and when the pudding is firm, take it out of the oven and let it cool.

Another tip: accompany the chestnut pudding with the custard: you will get a chestnut dessert with an exquisite flavor!
